1 army jawan killed and 4 injured by ULFA terrorists encounter in Assam

On Saturday, 3 soldiers were killed and many others were injured in an IED blast in Digboi area, Tinsukia district, Assam. When the IED Blast took place, the soldiers were traveling in an Army vehicle.

A Defence Spokesperson said that 3 soldiers were killed and many others were injured in the IED blast.

As per the reports suspected ULFA terrorists began to fire at security forces soon after the blast and the encounter is still underway.

On Saturday, Director General of Assam Police – Mukesh Sahay said that the incident took place at Pengri in Tinsukia district, Assam.

He further said that the army cordoned off the jungle in Pengri and launched an encounter at 5.30 am. The encounter is still underway. The injured jawans were immediately rushed to a nearby army hospital for treatment.

Chief Minister of Assam – Sarbananda Sonowal reacted to the attack and sent officials to the district to control the situation.

CM of Assam – Sonowal said that I strongly condemn this attack, the terrorists will be punished. Have directed officials to go to Tinsukia.
