On Tuesday, 1 civilian was killed and 4 others were injured in security forces’ action against stone-pelting protesters near the encounter site in Chadoora area, Budgam district, central Kashmir.
The police official said that security forces launched a search operation in Durbugh area of Chadoora in the wee hours after getting information about the presence of militants in the area.
The official said that the search operation turned into a gunbattle after militants opened fire on security forces.
He said that as the security forces were engaged in the exchange of firing with holed-up militants, a large number of protesters started pelting stones at the law enforcing agencies.
In the action of security forces. 1 person was hit by a bullet in his neck and rushed to a hospital but he succumbed to injuries on way.
Further, the official said that 4 others suffered injuries as security forces fired pellet guns and tear smoke shells in a bid to disperse the protesters.
The police officer said that the gunbattle between security forces and militants was going on till last reports came in.
