After the successful year 2019, tech giants like Apple, Samsung, Google and OnePlus are going to push their performance boundaries and have pulled their socks to deliver devices with path-breaking technology this year.

It’s 2020 and with the new year comes a new set of smartphones that are more powerful and competitive. From introducing 5G to providing full-screen experiences and multi-cameras, the smartphone-makers are developing more powerful and aesthetically-appealing devices.

Though the launches haves not yet been confirmed by the manufacturers, the names of the devices are based on rumours. So here are some major smartphones from popular brands that are worth looking forward to in 2020.

Apple iPhone SE 2

Apple is also likely to launch the second-gen iPhone SE, likely to be called as the iPhone SE 2 or maybe called iPhone 9. It will sport A13 Bionic chip, bezels, and come with 3GB RAM. The handset might be the most affordable in the entire 2020 iPhone line up and could see a mid-year launch.

Apple iPhone 12

In addition to iPhone SE2, Apple may also introduce the iPhone 12 that will come without a notch and facial authentication. The premium variant of iPhone 2020 may come with an under-display front camera. The smartphone company will bring back Touch ID, and also introduce an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max

In addition to iPhone 12, Apple may also introduce the iPhone 12 Pro Max as a follow-up to 11 Pro Max. This is supposed to be the most powerful iPhone of the year.

Samsung Galaxy S20

Samsung is said to bring the Galaxy S20 — or it may be called S11 — to markets this year. The handset will be the flagship by the firm and a successor to Galaxy S10. It is expected to be launched in the first half of 2020. The device is likely to get a processor upgrade with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Octa-Core’s latest variant. However, Samsung’s very own Exynos chipset may come to Indian users. Updating the camera feature are on the cards. The device may get 108MP camera, five-camera set-up, 5X optical zoom and 8K video recording ability.

Samsung Galaxy Note 11

Samsung Galaxy Note 11 is supposed to arrive later in the year as the company’s more powerful smartphone of 2020. The device’s highlight is its S PEN accessory. The tech company is giving the punch-hole camera a miss and plans to concentrate on delivering a full-screen display. may also have the Exynos chipset for Indian customers. Giving photography an upgrade, the device may sport a quad or Penta camera setup

Samsung Galaxy Fold 2

Samsung Galaxy Fold’s second-generation may also arrive this year. The smartphone-maker is considering a smaller variant of the foldable device. The device is said to be more refined than before, more powerful and possibly, more pricey.

OnePlus 8T

The Chinese smartphone company, OnePlus, has been getting a lot of attention from its users and attracted buyers in the premium segment. OnePlus usually launches a ‘T’ version of the smartphone later in the year with slightly upgraded specs. So it may bring OnePlus 8T series as well in 2020 along with the McLaren Edition, with more updates to the 8 series.

OnePlus 8

OnePlus 7 set to get a successor this year in the form of OnePlus 8. After doubling its sales numbers this year, the premium smartphone-maker will come up with the OnePlus 8 series around the month of May. These devices will come with updates and improvements to the recently-launched 7T and 7T Pro. The smartphone could launch sometime in May-June considering the pattern of launches.

OnePlus 8 Lite

OnePlus 8 Lite is supposed to arrive as a new handset in the mix this year. The ‘Lite’ version is supposed to be more affordable than the rumoured OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro models and is said to launch at CES 2020.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro

The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is said to launch the Redmi Note 9 Pro, which could be the follow up of the popular Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphone.

Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro

The popular Redmi K20 Pro that launched in 2019 may also get a successor this time with the Redmi K30 Pro. The K20 Pro was known for the price to spec ratio.

Poco F2

Xiaomi could also launch the much-awaited, second generation of Poco F1, called the Poco F2. The F1 was one of the cheapest handsets to run Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in 2018.

Pixel 4A

Google is already rumoured to launch its Pixel 4A and 4A XL smartphone that may be the follow-ups to Pixel 3A and 3A XL. It is expected to offer a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom

Besides the 4A and 4A XL, the search giant can also bring a successor to Pixel 4 — expected to be called the Pixel 5 — later in the year.

Realme 6 Pro

Xiaomi’s arch-rival, Realme may introduce its 6 Pro smartphone, the next-gen version of the popular Realme 5 Pro.

Realme X3 Pro

The firm could also make a ripple in the budget smartphone segment with the Realme X3 Pro, a successor to the current-gen Realme X2 Pro.

Vivo V19 Pro

Vivo can have its V19 Pro in the market in 2020. The device might be highlighted for its camera capabilities.

Vivo Nex 2

The third-generation of Nex, the Nex 2 may also reach the markets this year. This may be one of the most powerful Vivo smartphones of the year.

Oppo Reno 4

Oppo may refresh its camera smartphone segment in 2020 with the next-gen Oppo Reno smartphone, the Reno 4. The device may have the same ‘shark-fin’ camera design

LG V60

LG V60 might be LG’s most powerful smartphone of 2020. The handset’s usual launch time frame is in the H2 of every year.

With LG G9, the users can expect top of the line specifications like the V60. However, in some departments, it might not be as powerful.
