4 More Maoists Killed In Fire Of Exchange Between Cops & Maoists at Odisha and Andhra Pradesh border

The fire of exchange between security forces and Maoists reached its second day under combing. In the encounter, 4 Maoists killed.  The attacks took place at Odisha and Andhra Pradesh border.  At the first-day shootout, security forces killed 24 Maoists. In the second-day shootout killed four members which made the number to 28.

On Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh DGP N. Sambasiva Rao said that exchange of fire between security personnel and Maoists in Malkangiri forests of Odisha was still on and four more Maoists were killed.  Two out of four were women.

The firing was started between AP Greyhound – Odisha Police and Maoists  in Bejangiwada forest between Ramgarh and Panasaput in Malkangiri distric, Odisha in the morning of Tuesday.

DGP said that until now 28 Maoists were killed in the combing operation in which 15 were men and 13 were women.

A senior commando of Greuhounds – Mohammed Abu Bakar was killed during the shootout. Few others commandos had jumped into the canal to escape the fire of Maoists while others choose to swim underwater to escape. But in case of Abu Bakar, he became unconscious in water and drowned due to his injuries.

The DGP along with ADG N.V. Surendra Babu visited the parents of Bakar in Vizag and as a relief fund presented them with Rs 40 lakh cheque. The SP of Malkangiri Mitrabhanu Moha-patra said that all the dead bodies were identified and the post-mortem was performed. The dead bodies of the Maoists were kept in the mortuary in district headquarters hospital at Malkangiri. After the procedure, the dead bodies will be handled to the respective families soon.
