Well, reports are coming that people who are living in Kolkata are talking about the rumors that the hotels and restaurants are mixing the chicken, mutton and pork dishes with other types of meats. Overall, this whole controversy is getting serious and Association of Eastern India (HRAEI) has prompted the Hotel and Restaurants’ to issue an urgent advisory on Monday to its members asking them to stick to buying meat only from registered suppliers. Sources are saying that the cat-dog meat halved across restaurants in Kolkata and its surrounding areas.
You all should know that the rumors are spreading that the weekend, particularly, witnessed an unprecedented shift to fish and prawn, and even vegetarian dishes. HRAEI members said people are reacting to “rumors” about carcass meat has made its way to city eateries from dump yards near Kolkata. Overall, the situation is getting much messy when people are start panicking because of this problem.
Overall, Sudesh Poddar, the president of HRAEI said, “Respectable eateries, including our members, don’t procure meat from dubious sources. Smaller eateries may buy chicken and mutton from roadside vendors or suppliers from the city fringes who are now under the scanner. Frozen meat is now suspect and we have requested all restaurants not to use them. But the drop in the sale of non-vegetarian food is a worry.”
Even, a central Kolkata owner said that “The fear is very strong. Our patrons preferred even vegetarian food to chicken and pork this weekend.” Some reports are saying that all the hotels are getting affected by the rumor and Shamim Hotel has suffered more than 60 percent drop in sales. They confirmed that “On any normal day, we would procure 25-30 kg of meat. But, after the carcass rumor, the procurement has dropped to just 8 kg a day. It is a big setback.”
