The epitome of selfless service towards the world, Dera Sacha Sauda has been serving people and the society since its inception. Working tirelessly towards the betterment of the society, the Dera works closely on some of the most critical problems of the society.
Recognizing every living being as one, it not only focusses on the problems faced by human beings but also seeks to help animals and birds. For instance, the Dera, under the guidance of Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, planted over 35 lakh trees in different places around the world. Done in less than 24 hours with the help of volunteers, it was a noteworthy initiative.
Another major achievement by the Dera was setting up of the world’s largest mosaic using food grains. An attempt to educate the people about the welfare of birds, the “World’s Largest Bird Nurturing” mosaic spoke about the significance of protecting and conserving the birds on Earth.
Created at the Shah Satnam Ji Dham, Sirsa, this record-breaking mosaic was spread across an area of 20,340 square feet. The attempt which began at 4:30 am on August 10, 2017 was completed at 6:30 pm. In a span of only 14 hours, the Dera volunteers created this mosaic with about 3737.48 Kilograms of grains.
The mosaic, which was a beautiful display of birds pecking on food grains, was a crowd catcher. The new world record created for a vital cause witnessed a multitude of visitors.
The legacy of Dera Sacha Sauda, and the way it has been a driving force to combat various pressing issues in the society speak about its commitment towards the betterment of the world. An inspiration to the volunteers, the teachings of Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh gave way to the creation of this mosaic. Stressing the importance of feeding birds, and complying with one’s duty towards animals and nature, he brought together the initiative and educated the masses about the same.
Out of the 133 charitable causes that the Dera works for, “ensuring that birds always have access to food and water” is one. Spreading the message to take steps towards feeding, protecting and nurturing birds, the mosaic was an appeal to humanity.
A ray of hope, the teachings of Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is fondly referred to as Pitaji, have always been focused on the importance of birds. Another message that he always puts across is placing bird baths on rooftops. With scorching summer heat and the scarcity of water, these bird baths help quench their thirst, and cool them down.
The fading chirps in concrete jungles
A phenomenon clearly visible in cities, birds’ chirping are being replaced by traffic noises. Sparrows are rarely seen in Indian cities today. With various other bird species facing the threat of extinction, taking small steps like these happens to be the need of the hour.
Hampering the natural processes like pollination of seeds, keeping a check on the number of insects and more, the decrease in the number of birds is a threat to the planet. The greed for more, and sheer disregard for the environment has led humankind to a stage where not paying attention will only yield negative results. The movement of birds and their chirping is also known to have therapeutic effects in disorders like depression and insomnia.
The messages provided by Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh speak highly of these natural wonders. It is only when we will start following his teachings and walk on the path shown by him, will we be able to save the future of mankind. The mosaic by Dera Sacha Sauda was one of the many initiatives to educate and spread awareness among the masses.
