As you all may know that a weather system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to come quickly then it was expected. Reports are coming that it will move around June 8 in Maharashtra and which will bring heavy rain accompanied by strong winds to parts of the state. As you all may know that last month people of north Indian witnessed strong winds and light striking which took a lot of lives in UP & other northern states.
Overall, now reports are coming that AK Srivastava the head of climate monitoring and analysis group at IMD, said, “All weather models are indicating heavy rainfall in parts of the state with extremely heavy spells at isolated places on June 8, 9 and 10. There is a possibility of flooding over coastal Karnataka, Konkan-Goa, and Mumbai.”Also, he added, “The weather system will mainly cause heavy rainfall in parts of the state, especially south Maharashtra, including Pune, Satara, Mahabaleshwar, and Kolhapur.”
Sources are saying that people will face heavy rain in some places in Pune district on Wednesday, while on June 7-8 isolated places may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Also, the reports are coming that until June 9, isolated places in Pune district may get extremely heavy rain. Also, some reports are suggesting that Mumbai could see more rainfall in various parts. Satara and Sangli may also experience heavy rainfall between June 6 and 10 with high-speed winds.
Also, the sources are saying that the Colour-coded weather warnings indicated Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra in ‘red’ on June 8 and June 9 which signifies a ‘warning (to take action)’, while colours orange, yellow and green signify ‘alert’, ‘watch’ and ‘no warning’, about the rainfall. Also, the reports are claiming that, “Whenever there is heavy rain over Mumbai, it experiences some flooding. Along with the rain, there are chances of strong winds. There have been instances of heavy rain during the monsoon’s onset in the past too.”
