ISRO successfully launches earth observation satellite HysIS, 30 others aboard PSLV

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has finally successfully launched an earth observation satellite after a 16-hour countdown on Thursday, 29th November 2018 along with 30 micro and Nanosatellites of eight other countries.

Strapped with India’s HysIS, ISRO to Launch PSLV-C43 on November 29

Out of the 30 other satellite from eight other nations, one microsatellite and 22 nano satellites are from the United States. The PSLV has launched 52 Indian and 239 international satellites from 28 countries so far. The HysIS was positioned into Earth’s orbit into 17 minutes and 27 seconds after take-off. This mission was one of the longest missions for ISRO which they succeeded.

The 31 satellites were launched at 09:58 am from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The satellite was launched by India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV C43) in two different orbits, which also marks its 45th mission.

ISRO through its official twitter account also announced the successfully launched of the satellite by stating, “Update #14#ISROMissions

Here’s today’s successful #PSLVC43-#HysIS mission at a glance.”

As part of the mission, ISRO has launched its most recent Earth-mapping satellite, Hyper Spectral Imaging Satellite (HysIS).

According to ISRO, the newly launched Indian satellite, Hyper Spectral Imaging Satellite (HySIS), will help in checking and observing the pollution from various industries. It will not only help in monitoring the pollution level but also have other applications in forestry, agriculture, coastal zone study, geology and inland water studies.

ISRO Chairman K Sivan also said “HysIS is a very rare satellite with a super-sharp eye, and very few countries have indigenously mastered this technology.”

According to the report an ISRO official said, “The satellite will observe the surface of the earth and provide all the soil, water, vegetation and other data. Scientists may pick and choose what they want, but pollution monitoring will be possible.”

The newly launched satellite will have a five-year mission life and it weighed approximately 380 KGs to the payload and will be positioned in a 636-km polar sun-synchronous orbit, where the satellite permits over specified geographical area of the earth when the slopping of the sun is the same.

The HysIS satellite has been launched in addition with 30 other satellites from eight nations, one microsatellite and 29 nanosatellites from Australia, Finland, Canada, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Columbia, Spain and the US.

Alexandre Ziegler who is Ambassador of France to India from 2016 congratulate on the achievement of ISRO by applauding ISRO chairman, K Sivan on his success and accomplishment on his official twitter account.

He said, “Congratulations K Sivan, new #ISRO chairman ! Hope to meet you soon to discuss about Indo-French cooperation in space that has started in 1964. India is now one the major partner of @CNES the French space agency !”

While ISRO is individually using the lightest version of the PSLV rocket, the PSLV, it is projected to be changed and improved for the further missions in the future. This was the longest and toughest mission from all the other missions by ISRO but still they completed their task successfully and again made our country proud in the field of advancement and technologies.
