Telangana: 7-year-old girl falls into neighbour’s bathroom, survives on water for 4 days: In Makthal town of Narayanpet district, a 7-year-old girl who went missing on April 20, was found in her neighbour’s bathroom after almost five days. She survived for four days by drinking water only. The house had been locked for many days as the owner Venkatesh, a school teacher was out of town. It was only after he returned from his visit to Hyderabad at 10 p.m. on April 24 that the girl, Kuravakacheri Akhila, was traced and handed over to her family. However, the incident came to light on Saturday.
As per reports, Kurva, a class II student was playing alone on the terrace of her house when she slipped and fell from the terrace of her house into neighbour’s bathroom, which was locked from outside on April 20.
The Makhtal sub-inspector, Ashok Kumar said, “The neighbour’s roof had an opening in the plastic net through which she fell into the bathroom. She sustained no injuries as there was a rope tied for drying clothes, which she held on to and then slipped inside the bathroom. The house was locked as the owner had gone to Hyderabad.”
He further added that Kurva landed on a heap of clothes meant for washing. Hence, she did not suffer any injuries. She had screamed for help but no one could hear her cries and the bathroom was bolted from outside. After her parents failed to find her, they lodged a missing complaint the next day.
“We formed three special teams to search the girl but couldn’t find her,” said Ashok Kumar.
On Wednesday night, the house owner Venkatesh came back home around 10 pm and found the girl passed out inside the bathroom and alerted the neighbours.
Police said the girl consumed water from buckets and survived. She became weak and was sleeping on the floor when Venkatesh opened the door. She was immediately shifted to a hospital where she responded to treatment and returned to normal.
