Triple Talaq Bill: Presented in Lok Sabha; Congress isn’t happy

Congress isn’t happyWell, the Triple Talaq Bill was the main election issue of BJP. They have made it big since a very first day and they wanted to empower the Muslim women. Overall, the government has presented the Triple Talaq bill today in Lok Sabha and Congress isn’t happy about the bill. They have reacted over the bill and along with them, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi isn’t happy about the issue.

Amid Congress opposition, Lok Sabha OKs triple talaq bill 186-74

Reports are coming that the Congress MP from Kerala, Shashi Tharoor was the first one to react over the bill. He claimed that the bill isn’t in favor of Muslim men. Also, the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi called the bill ‘discriminatory’ while Congress said the bill ‘doesn’t empower’ women. Things aren’t in favor of anyone and things will be alright soon.

Also, the Tharoor asked the government to bring a universally applicable law for the abandonment of family instead and not target a specific community. He added, “The bill violates the constitution as it targets a class or community”. Also, he added, “Instead of protecting Muslim women, what it does, it punishes the Muslim man.” AIMIM’s Owaisi asked, “Why put the burden of proof on Muslim women? Who will pay the maintenance if the Muslim man is jailed for 3 years? Will you?”

As you all can see that the question is being asked by the opposition is quite serious. Also, we heard Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “It is the work of Parliament to enact a law. The interpretation of the law should be left to the courts.” Earlier, on June 12, the Union Cabinet approved the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2019.
