On Thursday, one of the members of Super Junior, Kangin, has just declared that he is now leaving the all-male K-pop group. In order to make the announcement on Thursday, Kangin returned to Instagram for the first time in past eight months just to deliver the news about his parting.
He announced his leaving from the group with a lengthy note go along with by a blacked out image, as translated by All K-Pop that, “As of this moment, I plan to let go of the name Super Junior, a name I had for a very long time,”
Since the year 2017, Kangin has been on a break after allegedly getting into a fight at a drinking establishment. He’s also had a few of the drink driving convictions.
He then further added, “I’ve always felt nothing but feelings of apology toward my members. I’ve always felt that I needed to come to this decision as soon as possible, but due to the kind hearts of those who cheer me on unchangingly as well as my label’s staff despite my faults, I was not able to summon the courage, and I also felt I was not in a situation where I could decide blindly on my own.”
“However, due to my own problems, I had to watch my members suffer misfortunes that they should not have had to face, and I’ve come to the decision that I cannot delay it any longer.”
Kangin also thanked his fellow Super Junior members in the video and his label’s staff “for respecting me until the end,” as well as his fans “for the overflowing love that you always sent me for the past 14 years.”
When he made his debuted 14 years ago in the year 2005, at that time he was an original member of the boyband.
He ended his statement in the video by saying, “I will cheer for the success of Super Junior forever.”
Super Junior is now scheduling to release an album at the end of this year after the youngest member Kyuhyun has now finally completed his mandatory military service.
Label SJ has also confirmed the departure of Kangin from the group, but they also states that he still remains as an artist within the company. One of the representatives said, “We have decided to respect Kangin’s decision to leave the group voluntarily. This does not affect his exclusive contract with the company; however, nothing has been decided regarding his future promotions.”
