Royal Enfield is in the process of bringing in the next generation of motorcycles, amongst them, one is the Thunderbird X series. Recently, an early prototype of the 2020 Thunderbird X was spotted testing on the roads of Tamil Nadu.
The video reveals that the next generation Thunderbird X is likely to get some major aesthetic as well as mechanical changes. While the test mule was seen wearing some bit of camouflage, it couldn’t hide every aspect of the motorcycle. The test mule was equipped with a different tail section. The fuel tank too has been redesigned and flows well with the overall styling of the motorcycle.

On having a close look at the video, it reveals that there’s a change in frame geometry as well. Also, the suspension setup looks different as well. The front brake setup has moved from the left side to the right side on the current model. The prototype is equipped with split seats, lower handlebar, and redesigned side panels. The 2020 variant of the Thunderbird X will get a BS6 engine which means there will be a good difference in power and torque figures.
As reported earlier in the Royal Enfield Classis spy shots, we believe the displacement of the motorcycle has gone up and the company may not sell similar motorcycles with two different engine sizes on offer.
The exterior changes include redesigned panels, redesigned headlamp unit. The exhaust carries a new design as well. Similar changes can be expected on the Royal Enfield Thunderbird.
Royal Enfield is expected to launch its BS6 range at the 2020 Auto Expo. The official launch of its new bikes could happen soon after the India debut. In terms of price increase, a decent price hike compared to the current model is expected. Expect a hike in price by Rs 10,000 and the BSVI updated model will cost between Rs 1.70-1.75 lakh ex-showroom.
