Taxathon 2019: Rally organised in Vizag and Ahmedabad to Create Awareness on Income Tax

Marking the 159th anniversary of the Income Tax celebrations and to create awareness among the people about the income tax, a rally was organised by the Income Tax Department with ‘Taxathon 5K’ walk on Sunday. The Income Tax Awareness walk was organised on the Beach Road on Sunday, July 21, morning in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Commissioner of Income Tax C R Pathi flagged off the taxathon, who was present at the Kalimatha temple before the commencement of the Income Tax awareness rally. He also highlighted the importance of walking for a healthy lifestyle, comparing it with payment of tax for a flourishing nation and its unity. He also focused on the health benefits of including a brisk walk for about 20-30 minutes a day. Principal Commissioner Ch Omkareshwar, Joint Commissioner U Minichandran, among other officials of the department participated in large numbers that covered a distance of five km along the beach road.

Apart from the Income-tax officials, members of the public and morning walkers too joined the Taxathon.

Not just Vishakhapatnam, but Gujarat also hosted the Taxathon on Saturday, July 20, 2019. Ajai Das Mehrotra, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Gujarat, flagged off the ceremony of the Taxathon that was a 5-km rally in Ahmedabad. The ‘Taxathon’ was organised at Sabarmati Riverfront in the city.
