Microsoft Suggests a Workaround After Windows 10 Update Breaks an Important Feature

Last month, as part of May 2019 Windows update, Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 KB4505903 update which is now causing some problems. This recent update is triggering some critical problems related to Bluetooth connectivity. Lately, Microsoft has immediately acknowledged the issue and now it is giving a workaround for the issue.

Windows 10 Update Breaks an Important Feature

Microsoft acknowledged on its support page, “Additionally, in Device Manager, you notice an entry under the Sound, video and game controllers node for Microsoft Bluetooth A2dp Source that shows a yellow bang (exclamation mark) icon”.

This time, the update is optional for the users which in simple term mean that it won’t automatically get installed unless until the users manually allow it to do so.

Some of the users might find difficulties for connecting the PC with a Bluetooth speaker with the Windows 10 KB4505903 update. Even after such issue, if the speaker somehow connects it, the sound output is of bad quality with noisy sound. In some of the cases, PC is playing audio through the internal speaker as an alternative of the paired Bluetooth device.

Now, with the latest Windows 10 update, Microsoft has also given users a workaround in order to fix the Bluetooth problem.

In order to fix the problem, the users need to launch the System File Check tool (SFC.exe) so that they can fix the missing or corrupted system files. In order to get here, you just have to open command console on your PC after which you have to type “sfc/scannow” command and click on enter. As soon as the procedure gets finished, restart your PC.

Users must also take note that this process might take several minutes, so it would be better if you do it in a free time when you don’t need your PC for work.

Well, if previous events are taken to be in consideration, then this is not the first time that Windows 10 users have experienced such issues with Bluetooth connectivity. Also, this year, an additional Windows 10 1903 update rolled out which broke the connectivity for some users. Microsoft had then said the connectivity issue was added purposely in order to deliver the platform secure.

At that time, Microsoft said in a statement that, “These security updates address a security vulnerability by intentionally preventing connections from Windows to unsecure Bluetooth devices,”

Also, Microsoft further added their statement, “Any device using well-known keys to encrypt connections may be affected, including certain security fobs.”
