Google is going to host a hardware event on October 15, 2019, in New York next month. Reportedly, Google is expected to launch a bunch of other devices such as a Nest Mini smart speaker, which will succeed its Home Mini smart speaker, and Pixelbook 2 during the event. Presently, nearly three weeks prior to the launch of Pixel 4 smartphone, fresh details about the upcoming Pixelbook 2 have come to light. We can’t call it as a PixelBook successor or PixelBook 2 yet but instead, the laptop is supposed to cater to an audience that likes to get work done while on the go, hence the device is being called as the ‘PixelBook Go’.
Google Launch Pixelbook Go Laptop
According to a report by 9To5 Google, the device won’t be similar to the PixelBook. It is not supposed to have a 2-in-1 form factor, Pixelbook Pen support or the keyboard attachment. Instead, it will have a traditional clamshell design which is more preferred for on-the-go users. A hint of it was dropped in a presentation slide by Google during the Google Cloud Next 2019. After showing a quick look back at the PixelBook and Pixel Slate, the slide said “Now, our goal is to empower your agile, modern workforce to be productive on-the-go,” suggesting the audience for future laptops.”
It has been revealed that the Pixelbook Go will have a ‘tactile feel’ at the bottom so it’s easier to hold. It is also expected to be lighter than the Pixlebook due to the use of ‘magnesium alloy’. We have previously seen Microsoft using magnesium alloy in its Surface devices.
Lastly, it was reported that the long-rumored ‘Project Atlas’ laptop that has appeared in videos, photos as recent as last week, might just be the pixel book Go.
According to the reports of Cnet, the Pixelbook Go is likely to feature a 13.3-inch, 16:9 screen, and come in 1080p and 4K models. The 4K model will be high-end and will come with the ‘Molecular Display’ branding as seen on the Google Pixel Slate tablet. Configurations are likely to include Intel Core m3, i5 or i7 processors, up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It will also have two front-firing speakers along with a 2MP front camera, a Titan C chip along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options. Additionally, the Pixelbook Go will have two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack and that it will be available in Just Black and Not Pink colour variants.
