Two Indian soldiers and a civilian were killed as Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in the Tanghar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday when Pakistan Army was pushing infiltrators into Indian territory.
3 Injured, 1 Civilian and 2 Soldiers Killed
While three civilians were injured, two houses were also damaged in the firing by Pakistani troops.
According to the officials, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire over 2,000 times along the LoC so far this year which resulted in several people being dead while scores of others being injured.
Reportedly, two army soldiers were killed in separate incidents after Pakistan fired along the LoC in Baramulla and Rajouri last week.
According to the Army sources, India has raised the issue of targeting civilians during ceasefire violations along the Line of Control with Pakistan, which has seen a surge since special status to Jammu and Kashmir was scrapped in August 2019.
Pakistan Violates Ceasefire in J&K Kupwara
Reportedly, there were 296 cases of ceasefire violations in July, 307 in August and 292 in September. September also recorded 61 “caliber escalation”, implying the use of mortar and heavy ammunition.
Meanwhile, India has repeatedly called upon Pakistan to ask its forces to adhere to the 2003 ceasefire understanding and maintain peace and tranquillity along the LoC and the International Border.
