Nagapattinam district Lightning strikes: Four injured

On Sunday, four persons which comprises of three women were hospitalised as lightning struck at two different places nearby Sirkazhi in Nagapattinam district.

Police on the other hand said that a 40-year -old-mother as well as her two teenage daughters was wounded because of the lightning strike when rain accompanied by thunder smashed their house asbestos roof at Melavallam village which is located near Sirkazhi.

In addition to that, some of the household articles which also include a refrigerator, television set, an electric stove as well as a borewell motor were badly damaged and broken under its impact.

After hearing an unusual sound, other people who lived nearby rushed to their home in order to rescue and carried all the three of them to the Government hospital at Sirkazhi.

In the same way, a 60-year-old agriculture worker, named Kannu was also injured because of the lightning strike which was held at Nallavinayagapuram village. It all happened when he was engaged in field work when suddenly the lightning strike hit him. After getting hit by lightning, he was then also rushed to the Government hospital Sirkazhi immediately.

Some of the official sources told that at least 100 television sets as well as other electronic goods were damaged because of the lightning strike in a few villages in as well as around Sirkazhi today. In the meantime, the investigation is being carried on by the Kollidam police.
