The blast took place at around 9:30 am when the market was abuzz with traffic and office goers in the Thangal Bazar area of Imphal in Manipur on Tuesday which severely injured five policemen and one civilian. Some of the vehicles including two-wheeler parked near the explosion site besides the glass window of the nearby buildings also damaged.

The explosion took place in front of a grocery shop located in between the Thangal Bazar and Khoyathong junction in Imphal. Soon after the bomb blast injured the six individuals, the police cordoned off the area completely. The injured persons are identified as Lamabam Amarjit, Thongam Devan, Ningthoujam Ibotomba Singh, Khuraijam Boney of Singjamei Chingamathak, Huirongbam Boboy and Krishna Gurung. Except for Gurung, all the other injured individuals were cops. The injured are being treated at a hospital.
Meanwhile, reportedly, the blast radius is said to be limited to a small area, it seems that the injured individuals were standing close to the area where the bomb exploded. No organization has claimed responsibility for the blast yet. Manipur police team led by SP Imphal rushed to the spot and began search operations. Interestingly, the area where the blast took place was just 150 metres from the city police station.
Manipur Blast: Four Police Man injured
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh visited the blast site. He said, “This is a heinous and cowardly act. We condemn it strongly. Those responsible for this will be punished.”
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and investigation is going on to find out the details.
Notably, Tuesday’s blast is the second one in four days. Earlier, on November 2, three personnel of 120 Border Security Force were injured after a bomb was detonated near the Telipati area in Imphal.
