Karthigai Deepam Quotes Wishes 2019
Mythology reveals that Lord Murugan or Kartikeya was created out of Lord Shiva’s third eye into a form that had six faces and twelve hands in the Karthikai month. These six forms were brought up as six nymphs namely Dula, Nitatni, Abhrayanti, Varshayanti, Meghayanti and Chipunika while the six faces represent six different characteristics – Tatpurusam, Aghoram, Sadyojatam, Vamadevam, Eesanam and Adhomukam. This is how he is also called as Aarumugam in the Tamil religious culture.
In Tamil Nadu, there are six magnificent temples dedicated to the six forms of Kartikeya. These temples are collectively referred to as the Aaru Padai Veedu, meaning the six abodes of Lord Murugan.
A Murugan devotee will make a pilgrimage to these temples during his lifetime. The temples are as follows:
Palani or Pazhyani Temple
Swamimalai Temple
Thiruchendur Temple
Thirupparamkunram Temple
Thiruthani Temple
Pazhamudircholai Temple

Another mythological legend states that Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma once argued with each other with regard to who was most supreme. On hearing this, Lord Shiva appeared as a flame. To find the beginning and the end of the flame, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu transformed into swan and boar respectively. They tried to find the truth but failed. Lord Shiva then explained that God is infinite and cannot be measured by them.
When Brahma was searching for the topmost point, he came across a flower (Tazhyambu or Ketaki) and wanted it to certify that he had reached the top end of the beam.
Lord Shiva, who knew that the two were lying, punished them by stating that Brahma wouldn’t be worshipped and the flower would be considered misfit for worship. Hence, Brahma has only one temple dedicated to him, and Ketaki or Tazhyambu is not used for Shiva Puja.
