The Chandni Chowk Assembly constituency, which comes under the Central Delhi Lok Sabha district judiciary saw a slow-up until 2 pm on the voting day i.e. February 8, 2020, but the polling percentage of this district was a good 60.91 percent by 6 in the evening.

Chandni Chowk which is situated in Old Delhi is such a constituency of Delhi which comprises over 40 percent of the Muslim population. Meanwhile, the BJP would be hoping to take the lead in the constituency due to split in the Muslim votes between the AAP and Congress.
However, the India Today-Axis My India exit poll results for Chandni Chowk district has predicted 9-10 seats to AAP and 0-1 seats to the BJP while Congress may not be able to win even a single seat in the Chandni Chowk parliamentary seat. Each parliamentary seat has 10 Assembly constituencies.
Like the overall Delhi, Chandni Chowk will also see a triangular contest this election. The Congress has fielded Alka Lamba to take on Prahlad Singh Sawhney of AAP and Suman Kumar Gupta of BJP.
Two biggies lock horns in Chandni Chowk Constituency
During the last elections for the Delhi assembly conducted in 2015, AAP candidate Alka Lamba won from this seat by scoring 36,756 votes and overtaking BJP’s Suman Gupta whose vote score was 18469. Before him, Parlad Singh Sawhney was the MLA from this seat for very long as he got elected four times to the Delhi Assembly from Chandni Chowk. Representing the INC in all these elections, in 1998 elections, Parlad Singh Sawhney got 24348 votes. In the 2003 general elections, he scored 26744 votes. His vote score in 2008 elections was 28208 and he won by bagging 26335 votes in the 2013 elections. In all these elections, the runner up candidates was from the BJP.
