‘Extremely delighted’ at Trump visit, Promises a memorable Welcome: PM Modi 

On upcoming visit of Trump to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India is going give him and first lady Melania Trump a memorable welcome.

Modi said on Twitter, “Extremely delighted that @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS will visit India on 24th and 25th February. India will accord a memorable welcome to our esteemed guests. This visit is a very special one and it will go a long way in further cementing India-USA friendship,”

Trump along with first lady Melania Tump are going to begin a two-day visit to India on February 24, the two sides have cnfirmed in the simultaneous announcements.

In his another tweet PM Modi said, “India and USA share a common commitment to democracy and pluralism. Our nations are cooperating extensively on a wide range of issues. Robust friendship between our nations augurs well not only for our citizens but also for the entire world,”

A day after the White House declared US President Donald and the first lady Melania Trump’s India visit on February 24 and 25, Donald Trump also stated on Tuesday that he is looking forward to the India visit.

Donald Trump, while talking to the media about his upcoming tour also said, “I am (going to India). He (PM Modi) said we will have millions and millions of people. He thinks we will have 5-7 million people just from the airport to the new stadium,”

The US President on the other hand has also said that his Indian counterpart has promised him that millions and millions of people are going attend the Gujarat event and will also cheer them on at the airport.

He also jokingly said while taking about the ‘Howdy, Modi’ event in Houston previous year or his own events in the US, Trump stated that it is not a good feeling when 50,000 people show up for these gatherings.

“When we have 50,000 people, I’m not going to feel so good we’ll have five to seven million people just from the airport to the new stadium. And you know it is the largest stadium in the world. (They are) building it now. It’s almost complete and it’s the largest in the world,” Trump said.

The visit on the other hand is expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between both the nation. In the meantime, Ahmedabad is likely to be the first stop for the US President Donald and the first lady Melania Trump, followed by New Delhi and a brief stopover in Agra on the way back to the United States.
