Madhya Pradesh Live Updates: Scindia to join BJP shortly, reaches BJP headquarters

The Kamal Nath government has plunged into crisis after senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia’s exit from the party on Tuesday followed by the resignation of 21 MLAs. The surprise developments on Holi morning came soon after Jyotiraditya Scindia’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Soon after Scindia quit the party, Congress announced his expulsion for “anti-party activities” as the crisis looming over the Madhya Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Kamal Nath deepened. Scindia took the decision to sever his ties with the Congress on the day of his father Madhavrao Scindia’s 75th birth anniversary. Jyotiraditya Scindia is expected to join the BJP this afternoon and is likely to get a central post, a Rajya Sabha seat.
