Four terrorists killed in encounter by security forces in J&K’s Anantnag

The Kashmir Zone Police said that four terrorists were killed by the security forces in an encounter at the Watrigama village in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on Sunday morning.

The security forces had launched a massive cordon and search operation (CASO) in the area on early Sunday morning after receiving specific intelligence information about the presence of terrorists there. All the entry points of the village, including Achabal and Anantnag, were sealed by the forces and the door-to-door searches were conducted. Reportedly, the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon the forces.

According to the early information, it was believed that there could be 2 to 3 militants hiding in the area, however, four of them were killed in the encounter during the gunfight.

One of the deceased have been identified as Tariq Ahmed, a Hizbul Mujahideen commander from Anantnag, while the other three were said to be affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
