This is going to be his second address to the nation since Thursday, March 19, when he called for a “Janata Curfew” on Sunday i.e. March 22, a 14-hour self-quarantine to fight the spread of coronavirus. In his last address on the virus outbreak, Modi had called for “resolve and restraint” to fight the disease.

After Janta Curfew, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said it was just the beginning of a long battle against coronavirus outbreak, as he lauded the people for their overwhelming response to his appeal for self-restriction, saying together the countrymen can defeat any challenge. He also thanked people for expressing gratitude towards those at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus.

However, since then, almost all of India has come under complete lockdown, with states like Punjab imposing a curfew till March 31. Trains, metros, and inter-state buses have been stopped and airlines will stop flying from tomorrow till March 31.

PM Modi had yesterday expressed concern in a tweet that many were not taking the lockdown seriously. “Many people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. Please save yourself, save your family, follow the instructions seriously. I request state governments to ensure rules and laws are followed,” he tweeted in Hindi.

PM Modi had yesterday interacted with the industry and the media to discuss the fallout of coronavirus or COVID-19, which has taken over 14,000 lives worldwide and infected over 3 lakh. Nearly 500 coronavirus cases have been reported in India so far, according to Health Ministry data on Tuesday.
