A big piece of news is coming from Daulatabad, Gurugram, where an undergoing construction flyover collapsed into two pieces and in that accident, it has been reported that three labours are severely injured. The accident took place at around 8’o clock in the morning on the Dwarka Expressway. The injured labours are immediately taken to the hospital for further medical treatment while the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) of Haryana and Civil Defense also came to the accident place. The police also reached the spot after they got the information regarding the same and is examining the whole situation. Also, a large number of local residents reached the accident scene, when they heard what happened at Dwarka Expressway. For those who do not know, the Dwarka expressway flyover is said to be the first urban road tunnel flyover in India.
The length of the bride is around 29 km. The expenditure on constructing the bridge is estimated to be around Rs. 9000 Crore and will be completed in four phases. The first phase is from the Delhi-Jaipur highway to Basai Dnakot (8.76km), the second is from Basi-Dhankot to the Haryana-Delhi border (10.2 km), the third phase is from Haryana-Delhi border to Bijwasan (4.20 km), while the final phase is from Bijwasan to Shiv Murti (5.90 km).
Earlier, the National Highways Authority of India gave a statement informing about the completion of the Dwarka Expressway flyover. They issued a statement and said that about 50% of the work is complete and 50% is still work in progress. As per the reports, the target length of the bridge is around 29 km, of this, 10.1 km will reach the border of Delhi while 18.9 km will pass through Haryana. The flyover will start from Kehrikadola toll plaza and will end in Shiv Murti.
We would like to point out this thing that it is not the first time that such an incident has happened, earlier also, a flyover in Sohan Road also collapsed a few days ago. Another thing we would like to mention here is that earlier, Road Transport and Highway Minister, Nitin Gadkari has inspected the Dwarka expressway flyover in February when Inderjit Singh who is the MP of Gurugram accused that there was carelessness in the part of the construction of the flyover at the Daulatabad. In a statement given by ACP Rajiv Yadav, he said that that incident happened at around 7:30 AM and a team of police are investigating on it and a team of engineers are also appointed by them, who will analyse the whole cause of the collapse of the flyover and a detailed report will be prepared by them and based on that, further actions will be taken.
