Many Franchises are in dire need of new players in IPL season 14 and therefore, looking at the current need of the teams, the IPL has decided to open a trade window from today onwards, that is, from 27th April 2021. So, what exactly this “IPL 2021 Trade/transfer Window” is all about. Basically, the transfer window will allow the franchises to trade and loan the trader player to the other teams who are in urgent requirement of players in the league. The transfer window will remain open till 23rd May 2021 and as per the sources, the very first franchise that will use this transfer/trader window will be Rajasthan Royals.

IPL 2021 Trade Window opens

RR has lost more than several players so far in the team. The reason why the players pull out from the franchise is either they have suffered a severe injury or they have tested positive for the ongoing Wuhan virus pandemic. Out of the 8 foreign players, 4 of the players pulled about because of the aforesaid reasons. England cricketers, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer back out from the RR franchisee because of the injuries, meanwhile, Liam Livingstone and Australian cricketer, Andrew Tye withdraw from the league because they tested positive for the ongoing pandemic.

Now, RR is left with only four international players named, England cricketer, Jos Buttler, South African cricketers, Chris Morris, David Miller and Bangladeshi Cricketer, Mustafizur Rahman. While another team that will most probably be going to use the transfer window seems to RCB as Australian cricketers Kyle Richardson and Adam Zampa also left the franchisee due to the same issues. The IPL season 2021 Trade Window will allow the following:

  • The franchise can exchange cricketers with other franchises.
  • Franchises can also lend their players to other franchise.
  • Subject to the consent of the players, the franchises can also sell their players to other franchises, and can also earn a profit above the base price set for the player.
  • However, once the players are transferred, lend or sell to other franchise, they are not allowed to go back to their ex-franchises.
  • A minimum of only three players all allowed to be loaned from one single franchise during the whole IPL 2021 season.

However, without the cricketers’ consent, no franchise can transfer or trade them. Though it will interesting to know, whether other franchises are willing to trade their players with other franchises as looking at the current scenarios, they also have to think about the backup players in case they also suffer the same problem the other franchises are suffering currently and as per the sources, it seems like most of the franchises will be unwilling and reluctant to let go and trader their players. So it looks like many of the franchise we remain out of this “IPL 2021 Trade Window”. For more such news, follow our page.
