They were using the interval between the LIVE TV coverage and the actual match to assist in pitch siding. In this kind of siding, the information has been shared with the corruptors for the sole purpose of betting and gambling. In a statement given by former DG of Gujarat Police, Hussain, he stated that one of his anti-corruption unit officers captured a person, who thereafter handed over the information to the police of Delhi. Though the specific culprit managed to manipulate and escape from the police, we were able to find out two of his mobile phones and a complaint has been filed by the ACU to the Delhi Police regarding the same.

The Former Gujarat Police DG, further stated that they are glad that the Delhi Police took immediate action and within a short span of time, the team was able to trace and catch two other people from the Feroz Shah Kotla. Hussain described that these two people got access inside the Kotla by using sham Id cards. One of them who escaped from the spot was dressed up in the form of a cleaner. However, the police have obtained all the details of the escaped person as he was appointed for the tournament and his Aadhar card details have also been provided by us to the Delhi Police.

When asked how Hussain and his team got to know that the cleaner staff are involved in the bet. He said that the accused man was standing in a private area alone and so one of their officers neared him and asked, ‘What he is doing here?’ and the accused person replied that he is talking to his girlfriend. Our officers then further interrogated the accused and asked him to dial the number again and put it on speaker. However, he immediately ran away from the spot. He was wearing an Id card which was later found out to be a sham but what aroused the doubt of the police was the fact that he was carrying two phones with him. Hussain further stated confidently, that they are sure they will catch the accused within two days. He is just a mere pawn who has been doing spot betting for a few thousand bucks.
