He was the key person behind the winning of 2006 and 2011 assembly legislative elections held in Assam yet he was side cast. After the emergence of Gaurav, the son of Gogoi, the party started neglecting his efforts and hard work. However, his tolerance level reached its extreme level, when in the much-anticipated result, instead of choosing Sarma,54 out of 78 MLA’s of Congress supported Gogoi for the position of CM of Assam.

However, when the vice-president of Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi also disapproved of his claim for the position of CM, Sarma decided to left the party who does not appreciate the efforts and hard work of their MLA’s and are partial to particular people. Thereafter, he joined BJP in 2015. There are a couple of reasons why the BJP will choose Himanta Biswa Sarma as the next CM of Assam. Firstly, under his leadership and supervision, BJP was able to conquer the previous and the current assembly legislative election in Assam. Also, he has a major contribution to the establishment of the BJP government in other northeastern states of India, including Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. Secondly, he is like a knight in the shining armour for BJP, as wherever the party faced any challenge or difficulty he acted swiftly with his strong intellectual resource management and shrewd political skills.

Thirdly, Sarma has a huge unforeseeable force in the form of true and loyal followers and is one of those persons who is known for his, ‘intolerance’ against corruption. Also, when Assam was affected by the first wave of the Wuhan Virus Pandemic, Sarma handled the situation with extra precaution and care. His way of handling the ongoing pandemic crisis extremely impressed the Assamese and other northeastern states of India. So with such vast support, the probability is very much high that Himanta Biswa Sarma will the next CM of Assam. However, with a higher position comes greater responsibility and it will be interesting to know how Saram will going to stand with the expectation of the Assamese. Stay tuned with us.
