Who is Diksha Shinde? 14-Year-Old Aurangabad girl Selected for NASA Virtual Panel

Once again every Indian’s chest is swelled with pride after the 14-year old girl named, “Diksha Shinde” from Aurangabad, Maharashtra has been selected as a panellist for the Minority Serving Institution (MSI) fellowships Virtual Panel of NASA. As per the initial reports, the Class 10th student Shinde’s research paper titled, “We Live In Black Hole?” has been accepted at the International Journal of Scientific and Engineering Research in May 2021. According to Shinde, the journey to get here, where she is now, was not that easy as it looks likes. Before being selected as a panellist at NASA’s MSI, she was as a matter of fact was rejected two times.

Who is Diksha Shinde?

Back in 2020, in the month of September, Shinde presented an essay naming, “Questioning the existence of God” in NASA. Talking about her first attempt, the 14-year old talented Aurangabad based girl stated, she was inspired to write this essay after reading the book of Stephen Hawking, however, her essay was rejected. She, however, did not lose hope and started to do more research on it. Late, in October 2020, she re-submitted the same, subject to some modification, but once again it got rejected.

It was then, that she decided to send a research article in the same year. Diksha Shinde wrote a theory on “Black Holes & God” and sent the same to NASA in December 2020. This time, however, her research article was acknowledged and liked at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Well, the young and talented teenager is truly a hard-working and blessed child. Not many of you know, but she had also won the research competition conducted by International Astronomical Search Collaboration.

In that respective competition, she temporarily found the ‘Main Belt Asteroid’. Now that her research paper naming, “We Live In Black Hole” has been picked by the agency and now that she has been offered to work as a panellist in the virtual panel of MSI Fellowship, she will begin to work soon. Her roles and responsibilities will include, examining and analyzing the presentations presented by researchers as well as outlining and defining a collaborative strategy to conduct research with NASA.

Her role as a panellist also involves understanding the connection between the proposed research area and the academic discipline pursuit of the students. She will be working between 1:00 AM to 4:00 AM on alternate days and is required to attend the research discussions. This will be a paid job. Shinde’s mother, Ranjana Shinde is a homemaker as well as a home tutor by profession while her father, Krishan Shinde is a headmaster in one of the government schools. The whole family is extremely proud of their daughter. Moreover, it has been said that after turning 18, Diksha Shinde would get training at NASA.
