Non-stop heavy rains since Monday night is affecting life of the Chennai people. The rainfall affected other parts of the city and its suburbs as well. The nearby state Puducherry is also witnessing continuous rains over the last few days. Normal life of the citizen completely gets disturbed, impact is the worst. As per report, the rains that have almost broken a 100-year-old record with one day’s rainfall covering a month’s average, by which eventually flooded arises in the areas including Vadapalani, Valasaravakkam and Nandamvakkam as nearby lakes overflowed into the city.

For the second time in weeks, life in Chennai has been disturbed because of the ongoing flood situation. The city received overnight rain that was the worst in a century, so now the state government holds the responsibility to release water from overflowing reservoirs and lakes around the city. This brought the floodwaters rushing through the Adyar River, which flows through the core of the city.

With the overwhelming responses of rains-falling force the bridges of roads across the river in Saidapet, forcing officials to close it. The airport of the city has been closed in the night as well running of the train has been stopped. In the social site, the news is trending since yesterday late evening when situation has been worst. The Chennai flood related stuffs trending with the hashtag #TNflood and #ChannaiRain and social site is already making India aware of it.

City residents have been relying on the internet and social media for updates and news, and it is also important for them to stay indoors. Reportedly, more than 180 people have already lost their lives due to Chennai flood.

The sources said that the more rain is predicted and stated that the situation might be worst in the coming days. The Met Department has forecasted more rainfall in northern Tamil Nadu over the next 72 hours which may affect southern Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
