The whole accident happened on northbound I-5 which is just south of Porter Way at around 6:15 AM and according to the statement of the WSP Trooper Robert Reyer who stated about the accident that the sufferer was strapping down a box truck onto his tow truck on the shoulder of I-5 when he was hit and killed and the semi-truck swerved onto the shoulder, skipped the tow truck and only hit with the suffered who met with the accident.

The police and the emergency services also arrived at the spot for finding the cause of the accident and after arriving at the spot they found all the persons who met with an accident and according to the statement of the police, they identified the injured person as a 65-year-old who is the driver of the FedEx semi-truck was detained for doubt of DUI. On the other, the tow truck driver was identified as a 49-year-old named Joe Masterson who was killed in this accident.

After the accident, the two right lanes of northbound I-5 were shut down for around four hours till the police finishes their investigation on the case and after lots of struggle and efforts they reopened to traffic at around 10:50 AM.
