What are the benefits of learning coding at a young age?

Only 0.5% of the world actually knows how to code, which means 99.5% of the total population are not eligible for creating basic websites or apps.

This can be a huge problem for the present generation because a large part of the jobs are going to be automated within the next few years, if our kids are not sufficient enough they would not be able to look out for themselves.

Not only that, there are many other advantages of learning coding at a young age few of which are discussed below:

  1. Learning through coding is fun

I will move along to other important benefits of coding, but I guess most parents should know this first.

Children, generally, need a creative approach before getting started with some new university courses. The subject should be fun to intrigue them and informative enough to help them learn. And coding is a perfect combination of that. It helps children learn and practice by having fun.

And trust me, when children find something fun and interesting, you won’t ever have to follow them around to do it. Now, that counts for something, isn’t it?

  1. It helps children to solve problems

The ability to solve problems is an important skill to learn, which will not only help the kids in the field of academia but in real life as well.

It will help them face adversity with a more real and practical approach. How? When children start learning coding from a very young age, they get an understanding of how things work. It teaches them how software engineers use maths and computer skills to solve problems in a logical and creative manner.

During application, when they make mistakes or fail, it encourages them to come up with a better answer to the problem. That is how they build problem-solving and better leadership skills.

  1. Helps them become team players

A lot of children face self-doubt from a very young age. But as soon as they get enrolled in a course, such as a programming language course, two things happen.

First, they get a chance to look at the problem from different perspectives and arrive at a solution that is viable to the problem.

Secondly, they become better at communication and don’t hesitate to put their point across.

This collaborative approach is indeed useful for children to learn and adapt at a young age, so when they get older and attend seminars or present their opinions, they make a kickass impression there.

  1. They become more resilient

When kids start learning to code, they become more resilient. Because coding requires attention to detail, which means mistakes are bound to happen, and that will shape these young minds to win over it.

In the process they will realize that failure is not bad, it means that you are learning and growing, success is just the outcome of it.

Making kids learn these life attributes through coding is one of the most important reasons why one should go for it.

  1. It expands their creative box

Every child is creative, they have ideas that we cannot even imagine being real in the first place. That is what makes them unique and as parents, it’s your responsibility to make them participate more in extracurricular activities, one of them being coding.

Coding helps kids to channel their inner creativity and design something new out of it. When met with problems, it will again push them to use their creative box to arrive at solutions. Thus, coding helps them learn the art of persistence while being creatively engaged.

  1. It’s the job of the future

According to a report by the guardian, 400 to 800 million jobs will be lost to technology by 2030. The article also stresses the development of technology and artificial intelligence in different fields.

As businesses will expand, mundane tasks will be automated. This gives immense opportunity to coders to develop code and help businesses out in retail, health, fitness, commerce among others.

And thus, this is why coding must be learned at a young age so that the kids are ready for the future.

Over to you…

I believe as a parent now you are convinced that coding indeed is a great option for your kid. Trust me, this small investment is going to be more rewarding for your child than anything else.
