The police officials and the investigators investigated the accident and stated that the northbound 131 was closed to traffic at mile marker 49 near Plainwell in Allegan County after a crash involving multiple vehicles, and traffic began backing up into Kalamazoo County. The Michigan State Police stated that 20 vehicles were involved in the crash on Saturday early afternoon and a portion of US-131 reopened after a multi-car accident shut down the northbound lanes for about three hours.
