The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m., causing the involved vehicle, a Ford Mustang, to break into multiple pieces on the westbound side of the freeway, just south of the Chesebro Road off-ramp, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. Eye witnesses reported that bystanders tried to assist by throwing dirt on the flames that ignited after the car collided with a pole on the roadside.

The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m., causing the involved vehicle, a Ford Mustang, to break into multiple pieces on the westbound side of the freeway, just south of the Chesebro Road off-ramp, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. A SigAlert was declared around 3:30 p.m. and lasted for approximately four hours while the investigation unfolded. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city spans an area of 8.2 square miles (21 km2), with all of it being land except for a minimal 0.04 square miles (0.1 km2) of water, constituting 0.37% of the total area. Agoura Hills features Ballard Mountain, named after John Ballard, a pioneer settler and freed slave. The mountain’s name was officially changed from Negrohead to Ballard in a ceremony on February 20, 2010. Ladyface Mountain, situated on the west side of the Conejo Valley, is another notable peak, reaching an elevation of 2,031 feet (619 m).
