Thrissur Pooram Festival got fireworks permission, but with conditions given by Kerala High Court

The Kerala High Court allowed to fireworks for Thrissur Pooram festival with conditions. The High Court of Kerala made the decision while observing that Thrissur Pooram festival is a part of social and cultural ethos of Thrissur.

The High Court allowed to display of low-level decibel fireworks on the occassion of Thrissur Pooram festival, freeing it from ban in the wake of Kollam Puttingal Temple Tragedy which is happened on Sunday, 10th April, 2016.

About Thrissur Pooram: Thrissur Pooram is a yearly hindu temple festival which is held in Kerala, India. It is held at Vadakkunnathan Temple in Thrissur every year on Pooram day. The Pooram Day is the day when the moon rises with Pooram star in the Malayalam Calendar month of Medam. It is largest and most famous in all Poorams.

The pyrotechnics is the main and essentials events of all temples in kerala. But in case of Thrissur Temple, it display in very unique and distinct in performance, character, magnitude and excellence. It starts in the Morning at 04:30 AM and ends after one hour later

The Conditions are given by the Kerala High Court on the Thrissur Pooram Festival: The sound level of the fireworks which will be display on the occasion of Thrissur Pooram festival, should not exceeds 125 decibel. No unauthorised chemical should be used in the fireworks for Thrissur Pooram festival.

OOman Chandy, The Chief Minister of Kerala, said that Government is not in the mood to complete ban on fireworks in the state but same time we have to follow the guidelines for the fireworks.

After giving the relaxation on the ban on the fireworks by the Kerala High Court, Ooman Chandy said that chemical used in fireworks should be check and dangerous material should not be allowed.

The Main Event of Thrissur Pooram is scheduled on 17th April, 2016. It is a mega spectacle comprising of decorated elephants, colourful fireworks and many temples.

The temple management committees known as Devaswom  Board in charge of Thrissur Pooram had threaten on wednesday night and said that if the government/court did not give the permission of fireworks, they will conduct the festival with bare rituals. But the State Government promised yesterday that the festival will be conducted with complete traditions.
