Sabeen Mahmud the director of The Second Floor (T2F), was gun shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Karachi, while returning home from her café in Sunset Lane, Karachi. Sabeen Mahmud was leaving the T2F offices with her mother some time after 9pm on friday. Her mother is severely injured and still under treatment. An event was held at T2F on Friday titled #UnsilencingBalochistan and she was returning just after holding the event when she was targeted. Wusatullah Khan, Mama Qadeer, Farzana Baloch and Mir Muhammad Ali Talpur attended the event.

The woman who ran Pakistan’s first-ever hackathon and led a human rights and a peace-focused nonprofit known as The Second Floor (T2F) was no more. She died on her way to the hospital. Police said that Sabeen received five bullet wounds. Her mother also sustained bullet wounds and is currently being treated at a hospital; she is said to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed Karachi police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo to arrest the killers at the earliest. A spokesman of the CM said that the chief minister has also sought a probe report on the brutal murder.

Qadeer said the event was initially supposed to be held on April 21 at a different location, but the venue was later changed after the organisers started receiving threats.
