Volkswagen has launched its much-awaited compact sedan, the Ameo, in the Indian market. The car comes at a starting price of Rs 5.24 lakh for the base variant that goes upto Rs 7.05 lakh for the top-spec model (both ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The ‘Made in India’ offering by Volkswagen is currently being offered only with petrol engine option. The 1.2-litre engine is capable of putting out 75PS of power and 110Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. A diesel variant will soon be launched and will come with an option of 7-speed DSG transmission.
