Rajasthan to Set up 5000 “Village Malls” by August 2016

In Rajasthan, the food and civil supplies department has set a target of 5,000 Annapurna Bhandars by August 15 2016. The nicknamed of this project as ‘village malls’. The state government has crossed the 2,000 milestone by June. The department opens 150 shops on a single day. The ration shops have been converted in to multi brand retail shops providing quality consumer goods at discounted rates to the rural consumers.

Dr. Subodh Agarwal who is the principal secretary food and consumer affairs said that this unique PPP model is an attempt to modernize PDS in the state Rajasthan through an innovative model. It has dual benefits of PDS and modern retail. These  provide qualitative products for daily consumption to rural persons. A discount is also mentioned in this scheme in the ratio 60:40. The scheme would assure the profits to the shop owner and cheap price to the consumers.

In the scheme of Annapurna Bhandar Yojana uses modern trade practices through which we expanded the capabilities and potential of fair price shops.

Future Consumer Ltd is a private partner. It  is supplying quality consumer goods. It also share management practices. The company helps upgrading the fair price shops (FPS) into a new modern retail format.
