A leader of All India Bank Employees Association(AIBEA) said that around 45,000 employees from the five associates bank of State Bank of India(SBI) will strike on Tuesday.
The AIBEA General Secretary, CH Venkatachalam said that only clerical and messenger cadre will do strike on Tuesday, but work in the bank branches will be affected.
The employees of five associates bank of SBI will oppose the government decision of merging the associated bank into SBI. The five associated bank of SBI namely as State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur(SBBJ), State Bank of Patiala(SBP), State Bank of Travancore(SBT), State Bank of Mysore(SBM) and State Bank of Hyderabad(SBH).
The Government is also planning to merge the Bharatiya Mahila Bank with SBI.
General Secretary said that through the merger move, the Government is doing so to divert the people’s attention from the mounting bad loans in the banking sector.
