Anti-Terrorist Squad(ATS) of Maharashtra arrested a man who is contractor by profession. He is held for his allegedly connection with the banned terrorist group Islamic State. The arrested man is said to have been in touch with a member of Islamic State group and was inducted to plot a terror strike in the state.
The accused person has been identified as Naser Bin Yafai Chaus who is a resident of Parbhani district of state. Naser Bin Yafai Chaus who is a civil contractor profession, was arrested by Aurangabad Unit of ATS on Thursday.
Chaus was on the radar of ATS. ATS monitored him for one year and ATS found that he was in touch with one Faroque from Syria for which he used various social networking site and mediums. Chaus also created multiple frauds ID’s to enter various chat rooms which are used by the foreign handlers of the ISIS.
The ATS of Maharashtra has filed a case under the section of Unlawful Activities(Prevention) Act(UAPA) 1967 of the Indian Penal code and other relevant section of the IPC. Chaus has been remanded to police custody till July 20 by a local court in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
According to Police Sources that Chaus was a college drop out and later he did some technical course.
The ATS are now looking into whether Chaus was a lone wolf operator or whether he had accomplices. Most of the ISIS modules busted in the past by security agencies of India across the country have pointed to them operating in small modules. ATS officials are now searching through all the emails and other technical evidence to check if Chaus has any accomplice.
