PATNA: At least 10 commandos of Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) were killed and five others injured in a IED blast which was fitted by the Naxals in the jungles of Aurangabad district, Bihar. They are all belong to elite Cobra battalion.
They said, the jawans of the COBRA unit were killed in the IED blast after which on Monday an encounter started in the evening between the them resulting in the killing of three naxals by late night.
A senior official said that while eight jawans of CRPF were killed on the spot, two others jawans of CRPF succumbed to their injuries when they were being evacuated.
This incident was happened at Chakarbanda-Dumarinala forests near the border of Gaya.
AK-47 rifle, INSAS rifle, under barrel grenade laucher and some other arms, ammunition were also recovered from the site.
Officials said five other jawans of CRPF were critically injured in the fierce gun battle with the naxals.
DG of CRPF will visit Gaya, Bihar on Tuesday to evaluate the situation.
The jawans who were killed in the blasts belonged to the 205th COBRA battalion. The jawans of CRPF were deployed in the state for conducting anti-naxal operations.
