India vs West Indies, 1st Test Match Result 2016: Ind Won by an innings & 92 runs, Ashwin MOM

India Cricket Team has started their West tour with a superb win in the first Test match as India thrashed the West Indies team by an innings at  Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.

This win will boost the morale of this team, moving forward in the further matches of this Test match series. This has been a superb start to the Kohli-Kumble partnership and they have a long way to go.

MATCH SUMMARY

Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first and this proves to be the perfect decision as Kohli side posted a mammoth total of 566.

The opening pair of Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan walked the crease to bat and both started cautiously their innings.

But Shikhar Dhawan failed and got out for 7 runs. Then, Indian Cheteswar Pujara walked down the wicket and started playing brilliant strokes.

Then, both started forming a partnership but Pujara throws his wicket after playing 67 balls for his 16 runs off Devendra Bishoo turn.

Then, Captain Kohli walked down the wicket and formed a brilliant partnership with Shikhar Dhawan.

Both were playing sensible cricket there. Kohli who is known to be an aggressive character on the Cricket field was playing at good strike rate. On the other side, Dhawan was playing with more caution and was only smashing the bad balls.

Soon, Dhawan reached his fifty and then, Kohli followed him too. But Dhawan fell just 15 runs short of a top class inning.

Then, Ajinkya Rahanae joined hands with Kohli and started playing his shots. Then, Kohli reached out his 12test ton with a straight drive.

On the other side, Rahane got out after scoring 22 runs and then Ashwin and Kohli together started playing which proves to the biggest partnership of this match.

Virat Kohli went on to  score his maiden  double hundred in Test Cricket and soon felt to Shannon Gabriel’s ball. Then, Ashwin registered his third test century and went back pavilion after scoring 113 runs.

On the back of further contribution from the Indian lower middle order, India managed to post the 566-8 runs on the scoreboard.

Then, The West Indians opening batsman Kraigg Braithwaite and Rajendra Chandrika opened the innings for their team. Chandrika went back cheaply off Shami ball.

Then, rest of the West Indian batting collapse and only Kraigg Braithwaite and the West Indian wicket-keeper batsman Shane Dowrich register half centuries.

For India Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav claimed 4 wickets each and Amit Mishra claimed 2 wickets.

Then, Indian asked the West Indian batsman to bat on and gave them follow on. Again, Kraigg Braithwaite and Rajendra Chandrika opened the innings for West Indies.

But Ishant Sharma sent the Braithwaite to the pavilion when he was batting for 2 runs. Then, Chandrika along with Darren Bravo shown some resistance, but Bravo fell down after scoring just 10 runs.

Marlon Samuels joined hand with Chandrika and both were looking good and were playing the sensible cricket with taking single and doubles.

But Ashwin gave his team breakthrough by dismissing Chandrika when he was batting at 31.

Soon, Samuels reached his fifty but soon became the second scalp of Ashwin. Then, rest of the batting order of West Indies collapse.

Apart from Marlon Samuels, Carlos Braithwaite scored 51 and Devendra Bishoo scored 45 and rest failed to make any impact.
