NEW DELHI: On Saturday a woman registered an FIR against BJP leader and former Uttarakhand minister Harak Singh Rawat. The woman said that he raped her in the national capital on the pretext of getting her a job.
On Saturday morning, Police said that the woman from Assam had approached the Safdarjung police station in south Delhi and she registered a complaint against the minister.
Harak Singh Rawat was among the Congress leaders who had rebelled against the Congress led government of Harish Rawat in Uttarakhand. He was a minister in the Vijay Bahuguna government, which was struck down by the Supreme Court. He was suspended from Congress in the month of May 2016.
This is not the first time for Rawat. Earlier Rawat was accused of molesting another woman in the year 2003, after which a case was registered against him by the victim woman.
