LS adjourned due to demanding of special status to Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi: On Tuesday, Telugu Desam Party(TDP) which is the partner member of NDA and the opposition YSR Congress forced brief postponement of Lok Sabha proceedings. Both parties are creating noisy scenes demanding special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

This was the second consecutive day of their outspoken protests which drew the anger of the Speaker who said sloganeering will not help meet their demand.

The YSR Congress party’s members came into the Well holding placards and started demanding special category for the state Andhra Pradesh following the creation of new state Telangana.

An MP of TDP who was wearing traditional attire including a yellow headgear led the protest, TDP members entered the House holding banners. They refrained from entering the Well.

An anguished Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan reminded the party’s members against displaying banners and said “Raise your issue during Zero Hour.

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said that doing like this will not solve your problem…I am sorry for your behaviour.

On Tuesday, Earlier the YSR Congress leaders had staged a protest in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the premises of Indian Parliament demanding special category status for the state Andhra Pradesh.

The members of TDP were also seen joining the protest with placards in their hands.

On Tuesady, YSR Congress and other parties have called for a shutdown in the state Andhra Pradesh, in protest against the refusal of Central Government to grant special status to Andhra Pradesh .

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who is the YSR Congress president had said that the alliance of NDA partner TDP also failed to impress upon the Centre in achieving special status for Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister and TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu had targeted Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. CM Naidu also lashed out at the Centre for trying to run off its responsibility over issues concerning Andhra Pradesh.

Last week FM Arun Jaitley had told the Rajya Sabha that the Central Government is committed to keep all its promises and will fulfill all responsibilities.
