Xiaomi has entered into an entirely new segment which is gaining quite some popularity nowadays; we are talking about VR (Virtual Reality) experience. Xiaomi has come up with an entry level product with the name “Xiaomi MI VR Play” that brings the VR Experience to greater number of user base and one can calculate the success of this device by the simple fact that Company received 1 million registrations and that too within just 8 hours of the announcement of the product. This product was announced on 1st august.
For the long lasting comfort and durability, it incorporates “Lycra” that is available in enticing and eye-popping prints and colors. It also includes two way zipper that helps in greater compatibility and deliver stronger grip to the smart phone. This dual opening on the front allows one to slightly adjust the positioning as well as for ventilation.
For this device to be working one needs a smart phone that supports this VR Play. It works in similar way as Sasmung’s Gear VR or Oculus Rift. It is quite easy to use and is based on the tried and tested methods. For now the focus of this device is on movies and videos content which is quite similar to that of Lenovo’s TheaterMax technology.
But company has brought up their products with slight tweaks and turns so as to make the experience with this product more entertaining. Apart from that it will be supporting all the handsets ranging from screen size 4.7” to 5.7”. Company has not yet divulged many details regarding the hardware of this headset.
Along with this Xiaomi Mi VR Play, company has also launched a Mi VR app which offers an extensive library of the contents of all the partners. The list of the partners in this app includes the names like Conde Nast Traveler, YouKu and Korea’s Dooribun. Company is trying to rope in more partners to this app and will be introducing the contents like 2D and 3D content, panoramic etc.
Company is planning to take the VR experience of the china to some entirely new level. The best part that the company has launched this handset at the price of 1 RMB or just 10 INR. May be Xiaomi is adopting this strategy that if they will price this device at this price then they will be able to reach more number of user base.
