The Cricket is known as a Gentle man’s game and they say it should be played in pure passion and devotion and that’s what makes this sport an elegant competition between bat and ball.
Meanwhile, the clouds of match fixing and another stuff is working against the spirit of Cricket. And in particular, match fixing has done a lot of damage in damaging the structure of Cricket and its diversity.
The 1999 match-fixing scandal is still fresh in the mind of the lover of the Cricket. Th whole South Africa country was hit by the news of involvement of their beloved captain of that time Hansie Cronje.
And now again, this country has to deal with the same crisis. The latest news is coming out that four South African cricketers are found guilty of fixing the match.
According to the reports, the four South African Cricketers are Jean Symes, Thami Tsolekile, Ethy Mbhalathi and Pumelela Matshikwe. All of these are alleged involvement in match-fixing.
The officials of the CSA release a notice in which they linked the ban period of these four alleged south African cricket players. As per reports, former national team wicketkeeper Tsolekile has been slapped with a 12-year ban for several counts, including contriving to fix a match or matches in Ram Slam T20 in 2015.
Also, yes, an all-rounder who played for Lions, will serve a seven-year ban for failing to disclose to the board about a payment. Meanwhile, the pair of Mbhalathi and Matshikwe – part of the Titans and Lions respectively – have been given bans of 10 years each for taking payment to fix one or more matches during the same edition of the T20 tournament in South Africa.
The ICC official David Richardson told the media wing that ” “I would like to commend my colleagues at Cricket South Africa for conducting such a thorough investigation and for working in partnership with the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit.”
Well, this is a shameful act and all these three will suffer for which they had done in the past. And these kind of action must be taken to stop the match-fixing scandal.
