On Wednesday, India rejected the proposal of Pakistan to hold Foreign Secretary-level talks on Kashmir. India asserted that it would like to discuss related to cross-border terrorism. The cross-border terrorism is the main reason of the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Responding to the invitation of Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Foreign Secretary of India S Jaishankar expressed his willingness to travel to Islamabad but maintained Pakistan has no locus standi in addressing any aspect of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. J&K is an internal matter of India.
The response was handed over to Pakistan by Indian High Commissioner to Islamabad Gautam Bambawale.
The sources added that we have also conveyed that Government of India rejects in their entirety the self-serving allegations regarding the situation in J&K.
On Monday, Pakistan had invited India for talks on Kashmir and saying it is the international obligation of both the countries to resolve the issue.
Last week, India had made it clear that it would talk on relevant and contemporary issues in Indo-Pak relations. At this time it included stoppage of Pak-supported cross-border terrorism, while reacting to a statement by The Advisor of Pakistan Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz regarding the invitation,
