Gymnast Dipa Karmakar missed out on a bronze medal in the vault final at the Rio Olympics 2016. She could get the highest sporting honour of India – Khel Ratna.
According to the report of NDTV Sports that a decision is likely to be taken on Thursday in regard of honouring the Gymnast Dipa Karmakar.
Dipa Karmakar is the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for the Olympics.
The coach of Dipa Karmakar, Bishweshwar Nandi is likely to be honoured with the Dronacharya award.
According a reports suggested that shooter Jitu Rai might also be nominated for the Khel Ratna.

Dipa Karmakar is hailing from Agartala in Tripura. She started practicing gymnastics when she was 6 years old and has been coached by Bisweshwar Nandi since.
Dipa had flat feet, when she began gymnastics. Flat feet is an undesirable physical trait in a gymnast because it affects their performance. She took extensive training and at last she was able to develop an arch in her foot.
Dipa karmakar won the Junior Nationals in Jalpaiguri in 2008. Dipa Karmakar has won 77 medals including 67 gold, international, national and state championships. Dipa was part of the Indian gymnastics contingent at the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi
Gymnast Dipa Karmakar is only the fifth woman in gymnastics history to land the Produnova vault or the handspring double front.
