Shocking! Protesters attack Pakistan TV station one Killed

On Monday, the supporters of a key Pakistani political party bumped with police and ransacked a private television station in the southern port city of Karachi. In this incident, at least one man dead and seven others injured.

The violence fulminated soon after the powerful exiled leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, gave a telephone address to his supporters in which he criticized the media for not giving due coverage of his workers.

The supporter of Hussain, who had just ended a week-long hunger strike over a government crackdown against them, attacked the ARY station after his address from self-imposed exile in London.

The police and withnesses said that the workers of MQM also clashed with police on the streets, sparking volleys of gunshots and tear gas in several places across the city.

Senior police officer Saqib Ismail said that we have carried out teargas shelling to disperse the mob, who were trying to attack a television office.

According to the officials of hospital that 1 unknown man was killed and seven others people injured, two with gunshot wounds.

The Director at a State run Hospital, Dr. Seemi Jamali said that One was brought dead to the hospital. The deceased was shot with a gun.

She said that 3 persons who were injured belonged to media organisations.

A Television footage showed that dozens of men and women barging into the office of ARY News agency, smashing doors, windows and equipment with rods and batons and setting fire to several vehicles.

Paramilitary Rangers arrested Farooq Sattar who is the top leader in Pakistan of MQM, as he arrived to address a press conference at Karachi Press Club late Monday. Officials said that Farooq Sattar had been arrested in connection with the unrest.

The MQM is run by Hussain from London. He is accused of using extortion and murder to strong its grip on power. He has long been blamed for ethnic violence in Karachi, Pakistan.
