Kabul: 12 people, including 7 students, 3 police and 2 security guards,were killed and 30 injured other people after militants with arms and ammunition attack American University in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The Chief of Kabul Police Criminal Investigation Department, Fraidoon Obaidi told AFP that we have ended our clean-up operation. Two attackers were killed.
Not terror outfits were not take the responsibility for the attack on the American university in the capital of Afghanistan – Kabul. The American University was established in 2006 to offer liberal arts courses modeled on the US system. Currently, The university has more than 1,000 students enrolled.
The identity of the attackers is not clear till now, said a police spokesman.
An Afghan official said that Several gunmen attacked the American University in Kabul and there are reports of gunfire and explosions.
A student at the university, Ahmad Shaheer told Reuters that they are inside the compound and there are foreign professors along with hundreds of students in the university.
He said that we are stuck inside our classroom and we can easily hear the sound of gunfire. The President of American University also confirmed that suspected militants have attacked the campus of the university.
In this month, It is the second time that the university or its staff have been targeted by the militants. Two teachers, an Australian and an American, remain missing after being abducted at gunpoint from a road nearby on 7th August.
